Who can join? We are dedicated to including as many businesses in the Fair Trade Tourism community as possible. Within that, we acknowledge the diversity of the tourism economy and the dynamic landscape of the sector, so we try to focus our efforts geographicall, building partnerships with others to achieve broader impacts. |
If you would like to be a member of Fair Trade Tourism, consider the following:
- Is your tourism business based in Africa?
- Is your business a tourism PRODUCT as defined by FTT? According to this definition, a tourism product provides facilities, services and/or experiences directly to tourists, e.g., accommodation, activity, attraction, venue, F&B service, community tour (a packaged excursion with 3rd party suppliers that is independently marketed), and / or volunteer tourism programme.
- If you are a tour operator or travel agent, please register for FTT-approval through our partnership with Travelife for Tour Operators on www.travelife.info.
If you answered "yes" to questions 1 and 2 above, please go ahead register your business! Once you have registered, we will contact you to confirm the details of your annual membership.
Thereafter, you can access the FTT management system, technical support, and resources on this platform; this step-by-step guidance enables you to identify which aspects of your current operations are already aligned with this comprehensive vision for Fair Trade and responsible tourism. Where you identify gaps or opportunities to improve, support is provided for how you might do this, creating even more local benefits through your tourism business.
